Perfect no-guilt breakfast treat.

I am one of those people who spends ages thinking what to have for breakfast. I might even be really hungry and really want to eat something fast, but then I also want to start my day with something that I really want to eat. And this is almost every morning for me :D Then I have periods where I can eat shakshuka for weeks and then porridge for the week after and I don't get bored. For me a granola breakfast is always a problem solver when I have no idea what to eat, as you can have it with yogurt and such a big variation of fruits and berries. Today I want to share with you a recipe for some healthy but delicious cinnamon bananas that make a great companion to your yogurt and granola :)

I made these cinnamon bananas using only the banana, cinnamon and a little olive oil. I wanted to keep them like that simple and healthy. The sugars in the banana caramelize beautifully while you fry them and if you serve them right away they have a slight crunchy skin on them, YUM! :) However, if you feel like you want to add a little more sweetness then I would suggest you use just a little brown sugar.

Before I leave you with the recipe, I would also like to remind you to use bananas that are not too ripe so that they won't fall apart during cooking.

I hope you will like this recipe and will try it out :) Oh, and let me know in the comments what is your favourite go to breakfast dish :)

Enjoy Lovelies!

RECIPE

Healthy Cinnamon Bananas

A great guilt free sweet treat that is also a perfect granola topping

INGREDIENTS

(makes 1 portion)

  • 1 banana (not too ripe)

  • ground cinnamon

  • olive oil or any other vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS

  1. Peel and slice the banana into thick slices.

  2. Lay the slices on a chopping board and sprinkle the top side with some cinnamon.

  3. Heat a medium pan over medium heat and once warm cover the bottom with some olive oil. Lay the banana slices the cinnamon side down on the pan, sprinkle the top side with some cinnamon as well. Fry the banana slices for about a couple of minutes or until nicely golden, then flip around and also fry until golden on the other side.

  4. Enjoy like that or on top of yogurt and granola or as a side to some pancakes.

TIP. I would suggest to use 1 banana for each portion. Also if you want to add some sweetness, you can sprinkle the banana slices with a little brown sugar.
