Healthy Bread Recipe with no Added Sugar and no Fat
Who said healthy can´t also taste good? My better half and I absolutely love this date bread, because you can eat it for breakfast and you don´t have to stop at one piece, and still you dont need to feel bad about it since it has no added sugar and no fat.

Now you​ are probably thinking, right, how can it taste good if it has no sugar and no fat? Well, the dates that go into this bread give enough sweetness to the bread and they also give the moisture for the bread along with the yogurt, and so there is also no need for butter.
​
Enjoy the bread as it is, with some maple syrup on top or with some yogurt, maple syrup and fresh fruit! Any way that you choose, is tasty.
​
Bake some breads before Christmas, wrap them in brown parchement paper and tie with some ribbon and you will have a great homemade edible present ready!​

RECIPE
Healthy Date Bread
with no added Sugar and no Fat
​INGREDIENTS

200g pitted dates + 1/2tsp bicarbonate of soda + 500ml boiling water

1 ripe banana

150g of natural Greek yogurt

2 eggs
-
150g flour
-
100g almond meal
-
1/2tsp bicarbonate of soda

DIRECTIONS

Add the dates into a medium bowl, sprinkle over half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and the hot water. Cover with a plate and leave aside for 30 minutes.

Then strain the water from the dates, add the banana and blend them with an immersion blender.

Add the yogurt and mix well.

Then add the eggs and mix well until combined.

Combine the dry ingredients and add them to the wet ingredients. Fold in until combined.

Then butter a 23x13cm bread pan and pour the bread mix into the pan.

Bake the date bread in 180°C at the middle shelf of the oven for 50-60 minutes. Check with a toothpick if the bread is baked through.

Remove from the oven and let cool for about half an hour before removing from the tin.

Serve chilled or cool as such or with a topping of your choice (serving suggestions on the website).
