Pumpkin Pie Spice

Great for Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Spice Latte

IMG_2841.JPG

Pumpkin season, Hello! :)

I had no plans of making a pumpkin pie spice or pumpkin pie. Then I got a request from one of my subscribers over on my YouTube channel and I couldn´t say no. I wanted to wait for those pumpkins in our garden to grow in order for me to use them for the pie. What I still didn´t know at this point was that I will need this specific spice mix to go into the pie. When I was doing my research to see what I will need to make a pumpkin pie, I found that every recipe called for a pumpkin pie spice. This is something we don´t have available in the stores here in Germany and so I decided to make my own.

While I was looking for recipes I found that all of them have a lot of ginger, nutmeg and allspice in them. These are all spices that I do like, but I like them in moderation, so just that you can taste them a little, but also so that they are not over powering the whole thing. That is when I decided to make my own mix and I also decided to add a bit of cardamom to it, because I have recently learned to love cardamom :)

You might think, why make your own spice when you can by it in the stores? Because you can adjust the amounts of separate spices as well as add something extra to it if you like and I think that is just really amazing and gives you more freedom.

I have never had this spice mix before and only now having made my first own pumpkin spice latte and my first pumpkin pie, I understand that I was missing out on so much :) And as it so simple to make, I will be definitely making it over and over again :)

Enjoy!
